A message from the Alumni Association Staff
Updated March 23, 2017
A Warm Welcome to JHS Alumni,
We want to thank all of the people who attend homecoming and contribute to its success each year. Your Alumni Association is constantly looking for ways to enhance your experience and welcomes any comments or suggestion you would like to share with us.
In the fall new officers were elected but in all the flurry of the moment we failed to get photos of them. We will try to do better in the future. I am new at this and ask for your patience in getting my act together. The current Jellico High School Alumni officers are;
President – Rosa Cummins Dotson, Class of 1970
Vice --Randy Baker, Class of 1967
Treasurer – Pam Weaver, Class of 1972
Secretary – Rhonda Douglas, Class of 1985
Registrar and Media Officer – Condy Alley, Class of 1965
School Liaison Officer – Donna Cummins, Class of 1985
Community Relation Officers- Cathy Vann, 1970; Alvin Evans, 1965; Lynn Cox , 1958; Eddie Troxell,1970; and Pam Singley, class of 1976.
These names represents only a few of the hard workers we have that volunteer each year to make homecoming a success. The support we enjoy from the principal, Donna Singley and our School Liaison Officer, Donna Cummins contributes greatly to the smooth running of the entire homecoming experience.
Last year we began a new tradition by hosting our first Blue Devil Walk/Run, “Run a Blue Streak” which was held at Indian Mt. State Park. It was a huge success with over eighty walker/runners from our area. We are glad to announce that Terry Loudin and Rhonda Douglas have agreed to lead the event again this year. This event is just one example of the ‘brainstorming” that goes on behind the scenes to add new events to our homecoming schedule.
Many talented individuals began their journey into adulthood in Jellico. Showcasing them and their achievements/talents is one of our goals. It is our firm belief that we stand as stewards of the pride and character that stems from being a JHS Alumni. We cherish the friendships we renew each year and value the support your contributions bring which allows the Alumni Association to enrich the school’s programs. In recent history, JHS Alumni has provided money for several $500.00 scholarships, library equipment, books, cheerleading uniforms, band supplies and a floor covering for the gym, etc. We hope to include more information on the activities of the Alumni Association in the following months.
Alumni members meet frequently to plan and discuss input that others have shared with us. We currently have several long term projects underway that will provide a systematic way to retain and highlight the historical data that has been generated by the Alumni Association. Condy Alley, Eddie Troxwell and George Hackler have begun work on some of these suggestions. We value the traditions our organization stands for and the strong ties we continue to maintain with the community and school.
In closing, I want to extend a personal “Thank You” to Condy Alley and the Alumni team for the effortless transition of the new alumni officers. I look forward to working with you and for you in the upcoming years. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions you may have email the Alumni President
